pagodas, most cities have them, some are more famous than others, like in Xian there is the "Wild Goose Pagoda", Beijing has the famous "White Pagoda", twin pagoda temple in Taiyuan, hope this helps, your second question as far as religious tolerance, I guess as far as the govt. was concerned maybe you could call it religious tolerance but as far as religious tolerance among the family would be a different story, the families of ancient China were very particular about ancestor worship, to embrace the Christian faith meant people had to give up that altogether, this often made the families very angry and the family often disowned the member who became Christian, as well as the Muslims, when a family member changed from Islam to another religion they were often disowned, but as far as the govt. I think you are pretty much correct, although China had warlords controlling the country up until the 30's and maybe tolerance depended a lot on the warlord, I have lived in China for almost ten years now and have seen and heard about intolerance to the degree of imprisonment and even in some case death

A mound like tower can be called a Stupa or Chorten. Temples are called Temples.
