The "polar easterlies" are the winds which blow from north and south polar areas with high pressure to the low pressure areas respectively.

These winds are cold and dry, so cold air flows towards the equator.

But, this flow is distracted by Coriolis effect makes the wind blow towards the west.

Since these winds blow start from the east, these winds are known to be Polar easterlies.

It covers Europe, Russia and North America.
