For an acute angle :

The largest possible value of sin theta = 1

x + y sin theta = 9 [ largest ] ................(1)

The smallest possible value of sin theta = 0

x + y sin theta = 7 [ smallest ]

sin theta = 0

==> x + 0 = 7

==> x = 7

Put this in (1)

7 + y sin theta = 9

y * 1 = 9 - 7

==> y = 2

The values are:

x = 7

y = 2

Hope it helps

Anonymous: x will be 7 when u put 0 as sin theta and 0 is the least possible value !
