They have been playing in the field for two hours.

Present Perfect Continuous Tense :

An action which was started in the past but it is in continuation till now, in such cases we use Present Perfect Continuous Tense.

i) We use the Participle of a verb (Verb + ing) and has been or have been just before it.

ii) To mean the period of time of continuation of actions, we write for and in cases where the beginning of the action or the point of time is specified in O'clock, day, date, we write since just before the time.

Examples :

1. He has been sleeping for five hours.

2. It has been raining for the last three days.

3. I have been suffering from influenza since Monday last.
