These lines are taken from the poem Television written by Roald Dahl
When the children are before a television set, they sit and stare the set for a long time. They seem to become immobile in front of the Television Set. They forget their surroundings and keep sitting at a place. He used the term 'hypnotise' to denote that children watch the Television set as if they are under any Magic Spell. Their young minds are totally occupied by stories which are Virtual and inappropriate for their age.
