thick fog is developed where warm and cold currents meet. the warm waters of the gulf stream sweeps over the east coast of north america, northwards as far as cape hatteras(35 degrees NORTH), where it is transformed into the cold waters of the labrador current which causes the fog near new found land. It also serves as a good fishing ground because plankton gets attracted to the foggy condition and then fish get attracted to the plankton and then people catch the fish.
