Things on Earth remain on it due to the gravity. It means that anything which is present in the surface of the Earth remains on its surface only under the influency of gravity.

                             

             Gravity is a force exerted by all objects in the universe that has a mass. More the mass is, more the gravitational force exerted by object. Our mass is very less compared to the mass of Earth due to which we remain on the Earth. But the rockets and aeroplanes exert extra force due to which they beat gravitational force of Earth and fly in air.

                                 

               An example is there that Earth has less mass compared to the sun due to which it rotates around the Sun.
