Answer:

a) There are two different types of things in the ecosystem – Living and Non living Things. All living things breathe, eat, grow, move, reproduce and have senses. Non living things do not eat, grow, breathe, move and reproduce. They do not have senses.

b) Smaller Leaves and Stems

One of the chief adaptions of plant life to desert climates has been to reduce leaf and stem size. This allows the plant to concentrate its water instead of spreading it out over a wider surface area. Desert trees and shrubs tend to be short, with fewer leaves and branches.

c) Hibernation is a state of inactivity and metabolic depression in endotherms. Hibernation is a seasonal heterothermy characterized by low body-temperature, slow breathing and heart-rate, and low metabolic rate. It most commonly occurs during winter months. Examples- Bears, Bumblebees, Ground squirrels, Woodchucks, etc.

d) Respiration in Animals

Through Plasma Membrane. In unicellular animals, such as amoeba, exchange of gases takes place through cell surface. ...

Through Body Wall or Skin. Tapeworms, earthworms, and leeches use their skin for the exchange of gases. ...

Through Tracheal System. ...

Through Gills. ...

Through lungs.

Insect Respiratory System

For insects, air enters the respiratory systems through a series of external openings called spiracles.

As with photosynthesis, plants get oxygen from the air through the stomata. Respiration takes place in the mitochondria of the cell in the presence of oxygen, which is called "aerobic respiration". In plants, there are two types of respiration: dark respiration and photo respiration.

e) Oxygen absorbed through their skin will enter blood vessels right at the skin surface that will circulate the oxygen to the rest of the body. Sometimes more than a quarter of the oxygen they use is absorbed directly through their skin. Tadpoles and some aquatic amphibians have gills like fish that they use to breathe.

Answer:

The major difference between living and nonliving things is living things are made up of cells and undergo metabolism. They show response into stimulus and internal growth whereas nonliving things are incapable of such activities.

The characteristics of plants in water are waxy coating which prevents wetting, thick cuticle, absence of stomata in submerged leaves and presence of air sacs in leaves and other parts to facilitate buoyancy.

Hibernation is shortly known as winter sleep. It is due to the inability of an animal to cope up with the extreme cold conditions , that it undergoes deep sleep to conserve energy. This sleep period is called hibernation. Eg: Polar bear, skunks, bees.

Animals generally have lungs for respiration. Various insects generally respire through the body surface and finally plants they have stomata for gaseous exchange.

Both frog and fish when living in water respire using lungs but frog being an amphibian when comes to land respires using lungs( buccal cavity and skin too)

a)Camel ,Kangaroo rat

d)Monkeys , rabbit

e)Crocodile,snake
