khichdi is a healthy food as it contains rice which contains starch and carbohydrates , vegetables which are rich in vitamins ,and pulses which are rich in protein and fibres .
firstly pour some oil into the pot , add sumin seeds , chopped garlic , chopped onion and some green chillies . fry them for a few moments .
then add chopped tomato , cauliflower , potato and capsicum , and cook for a few minutes . now add spices and some water . after 2-3 minutes add soaked pulses and mix it uniformly for 2 minutes , then after adding soaked rice and mixing , add 2 to 3 cups of water so that the whole mix is submerged . now put on the lid and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes .
