1. Johnsy was suffering from pneumonia. The doctor had given her the required treatment, but Johnsy's health would only improve if she agreed to co-operate. She had lost all hopes of recovering and that had made her situation even worse. As per the doctor, only the willingness to live could cure her now.

2. Indeed, depression among teenagers is quite common. Because of the hormonal changes going in their body, they experience mood swings. Most often, it is the way in which adults view teenagers which makes them more prone to depression. However, a little pep talk can work wonders! Proper guidance and a caring upbringing can result in less depressed teenagers which will help them realize their true potential.

3. Behrman had always dreamt of creating a masterpiece- a creation which would withstand the test of time and something which people would appreciate for years to come. Behrman's dream came true because the painting of leaf he had made, helped save Johnsy’s life.

4. The painting of the leaf which Behrman had made after the last leaf fell, was really a masterpiece. Sue had every reason to say so because it was able to inspire Johnsy to live her life. The quality or execution of painting can be debatable but inspirational value of the painting can be vouched for because of the desired end result. Just as Behrman's painting rekindle the willingness to love in Johnsy, it has every right to be deemed as a masterpiece!
