In a wheel and axle, if the wheel is triangular or rectangular in shape,it would be not easy to turn around as compared with a circular wheel.

- A smooth roll of a wheel is only possible when the wheel has a smooth external curvature.

- And a smooth curve is only possible by infinite number of sides.

So,less the number of sides means greater resistance while rolling.

- This criteria of being a smooth curve with evenly distributed curvature in all directions is only possible for the circular shape.

- That's why circle is always preferable for a wheel shape than triangles or rectangles.
