While people will say what they think is bad DMing, do people think that what they like in play might not constitute good play necessarily for every other person? In a way the way they like things to run might just be someone else's idea of a bad DM?

I mean a thing with DMs that might be called bad, the thing is they often think what they want to do is perfectly reasonable. So too might people who complain about a DM also think what they like is perfectly reasonable.

Prompted by a recent post where I could pick out things I didn't like about the way the described DM ran...but some things actually I'm fine with. Sure, some things aren't good, but that doesn't mean all the points in question were bad.

How often do we critique while thinking our own likes are perfectly reasonable?


I feel like we're shadows of our former selves. Some days I don't even know if I should stay in this marriage. I just ... out a particular role for the betterment of the children and therefore society as a whole ...
