let the no. be x

according to the question, the equation will be formed as:-

\huge \fbox \blue{6(x+2)=42}

⇒6(x+2) = 42

⇒6x+12 = 42

⇒6x = 42-12

⇒6x = 30

⇒x = \bf\dfrac{30}{6} = 5.

hence, the required no. is 5.
