One of the new admissions in our class, Ankita had a stammering problem and could not complete a sentence without a break. People used to make fun of her. So, she used to stay away from others and avoid speaking. One of our teachers noticed this and called three girls to talk about it. Their responsibility was to help Ankita. They began with asking her questions that required one word answers, like, “What is the next period?” or “Was there any Maths homework?” Soon, she started talking to them. She moved onto longer sentences and a few months later, she was speaking to everyone in class without stuttering at all.
Ankita took one step at a time to solve the problem. First she fought her hesitation and responded with words and phrases and then went on to try sentences. The most crucial part was to put in effort each day and not to feel disappointed each time she stammered. Her classmates kept laughing at her, but she knew how much progress she had made and did not give up. Today, she speaks fluently, without any problems. She feels that if someone else can have faith in you, can you not believe in yourself?
