Dear Sir,

I'm a regular reader of your national daily and would like to express my views through the columns of your esteemed newspaper. With the advent of globalisation and technological advancements, the face of media has too undergone a major upheaval.

Much like the two sides of a coin, the positive and negative aspects of media come to fore when we think of its social impact. It is true that many a time media has helped in bringing about a revolution, due to outrage caused by some social injustice, in the self centred world we live in, media is a reminder of the world that surrounds us, and incited to fight for a world that is peaceful. However having said that the bid to out do other news channels and newspapers, channels etc., has made it a tradition to sensationalise news, which in fact is more harmful, than it doing any social favour.

Media needs to realise the power that it possesses in influencing the nation in an uplifting way, and bring about the much needed changes in our social structure. It is my sincere hope that the ethical bounds of constructive journalism, reporting and portrayals, will help influencing the national scenario, and create a better nation.

Sincerely,

Shanaya
