This book is popular with my male friends. Therefore, I think you, as a guy, will probably like it as well. Is the argument above inductive or deductive? Why?
Answers
Answer: Inductive argument
Explanation:
Inductive reasoning are based on the conclusion arrived with evidence having maximum probability of occurring due to the fact or evidence. But the deductive reasoning is based purely on the facts seen in present and not on some rules or written evidences.
The inductive reasoning is theoretical while the deductive reasoning is experimental. So, there is a chance that the conclusion arrived by inductive reasoning may be false but there is no chance that the conclusion arrived by deductive reasoning to be false.
In the present case, some one is saying that a certain book is popular with male gender. So, he is suggesting this book to his other friend who is also a male. So here the person is coming to a conclusion based on the factual evidence of gender biasing. But it may be true or false. He may like that book or may not like that book, it completely depends upon the choice of the guy.
So, this is an inductive argument.
