There are three types of waves by which this can be understood.


First is a oceanic wave which moves in a simple up and down motion and the length is calculated by wavelength which is distance between identical parts.


Other waves are transverse which moves in horizontal direction but disturbance in vertical and longitudinal which moves in horizontal direction and disturbance is also in horizontal.


That is why same wavelength and still waves are moving at different frequencies.
