The Equation is: y=asinvt , We have to find the dimensions of 'y' and 'a'

  • In this equation y is a sinusoidal function, whose amplitude is given by 'a'
  • Since Sin function is a trigonometric ratio.
  • The dimension of all trigonometric ratios for example: sine, cosine, tan, sec, cosec, and cot is 1.
  • So here also dimension of sine will be 1.
  • Now a is amplitude here, which represents the height of sine curve, which also has the dimension of Length. ie dim(a)=[L]
  • so dim(y)=dim(a)*dim(sinvt) ⇒ dim(y)=dim(a)=[L]
