Given : a scale drawing of a grid that will be used for a game. It is drawn to a scale of 1:60.

To find :  a.) Plot a point which is 240 cm from A and is on the line AB

B.) Plot a point which is 240 cm from A and is on the line CD.

C.) Plot a point which is 240 cm from A and is 96cm from the line CD.

Solution:

Scale = 1 : 60

240 cm = 4 cm

a)

 Taking compass width = 4 cm and taking A as center draw an arc such that it intersect  line AB

hence we get a point which is 240 cm from A and is on the line AB

b)

 Taking compass width = 4 cm and taking A as center draw an arc such that it intersect  line CD

hence we get a point which is 240 cm from A and is on the line CD

c) 96/60 = 1.6 cm

Draw a line parallel to CD  at a distance of 1.6 cm

& Taking compass width = 4 cm and taking A as center draw an arc such that it intersect parallel line to CD
