Answer:

This two matrices are equal so,

x+y= 5 ------(1)

a+ b= -1 ------(2)

a-b= 3 -------(3)

2x- 3y= -5 ------(4)

in eq. (1) x = 5- y

By putting the value of x in eq. (4) we get,

2(5-y) -3y = -5

=> 10- 2y - 3y = -5

=> 10 - 5y = -5

=> -5y = -5-10

=> -5y= -15

=> y= 3

By putting value of y in equation (1) we get,

x+ 3= 5

=> x= 2

Similarly, by adding equation (2) and (3) we get,

a+b+a-b = -1+3

=> 2a= 2

=> a= 1

By putting value of a in equation (2) we get,

1+ b= -1

=> b= -2

So the required answers are-- x= 2, y= 3, a= 1,

b= -2
