Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, generally known as Mahatma Gandhi. He was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat.

He was the main leader of the Indian independence movement against British rule. He was also known as Bapu and "Father of the Nation".

Gandhi was awarded the 'Kaiser-i-Hind' and other medals by the British for his work. Kaiser-I-Hind was awarded in 1915 by The Lord Hardinge of Penshurst for his contribution to services in South Africa. But he returned it in 1920.
