Given : The Distance between points showing the player at Gully A(1 ,0 ) and wicketkeeper B(4, p) is 5 m

To Find : p

4m

8m

6m

9 m

Solution:

Gully A(1 ,0 )

wicketkeeper B(4, p)

Distance = 5 m

=> 5 = √((4 - 1)² + (p - 0)²)

=> 5 = √(3² + p²)

=> 5 =√(9 + p²)

Squaring both sides

=> 25 = 9 + p²

=> 16 = p²

=> p = 4 m

4m is the correct answer
