This is a story of olden times. There were no proper tar roads and people traveled by bullock carts or simply walked either alone or if they were afraid of dacoits in groups with a few armed guards with them. Aman, an old villager was walking alone along a mud track to his married daughter's home which was at about one day's walking distance . He was carrying new cloths, some ornaments for her and a lot of sweets for his grandchildren and he walked happily singing a folk tune. Unfortunately a bunch of dacoits fell upon him, beat him up, took away all he had and left him to die on that lonely path. Poor Aman was lying there unconscious without anyone to help him. After some time a priest came that way, saw the injured man but just walked away without doing anything. A little later an astrologer came from the other direction and just as the priest looked at the poor man but walked away. Some time later a village peddler named Satbuddhi came that way carrying things on his donkey for sale at the weekly 'haat' at the nearby town. When he saw the injured man, stopped immediately, went over to him, helped him to sit up, gave some water and food, cleaned up the wounds and bandaged them applying some haldi and whatever simple medicines he had with him. He set the poor man on his own donkey and carried him to the nearby sarai which was actually away from his normal route. At the sarai, he met the owner Satkar, gave him some money and requested him to take care of the injured man and asked him to use the money for expenses till the person was strong enough to move on his own. Sadbuddhi assured Satkar that if there was any deficit he would reimburse that on his way back next week.
