1. The 18th amendment , the prohibition of alcohol began in 1920 and ended in 1933. In the first world war the prohibition was established under the name "noble experiment", it's goal was to reduce crime and corruption, solve social problems, reduce the tax burden created by prisons and poorhouses and improve health and hygiene in America, to do this manufacturering of alcohol had stopped and dry zones were established around military camps, the selective service act forbid to sell liquor to man in uniform. But the prohibition had various downsides as the trade of illegal alcohol had became lucrative, the quality of the alcohol declined in the black market, more than 1000 Americans died every year during prohibition from the effects of drinking tainted alcohol . The law was very controversial and difficult to enforce, so the prohibition came to an end in 1933 with the 21th amendment.
