here was a woodcutter in Baghdad named Hasan.  He earned money by selling firewood.  One day, he met a man named Ali.  Ali asked him what would be the cost of all the firewood on his donkey.  Hasan replied “2 dinars”.  Ali paid him two dinars and unloaded all the firewood including the saddle.  Hasan questioned him that why was he taking the saddle.  Ali told him that he asked the cost of all the firewood including the saddle made from wood.  This case was taken to the Caliph.  After listening to the story, the Caliph took off for Ali.  Ali was caught and brought to the court.  Ali said the same thing “I asked him the cost of all the firewood.  This convinced the Caliph and Ali went home happily.   Then the Caliph whispered something in Hasan’s ear.  One day, Hasan went to Ali’s barber shop.  Hasan told him that he has to cut his friend’s hair.  Ali replied, ‘it will cost you one dinar each”.  Hasan agreed and after getting his cut he called his friend, the donkey.  Ali refused to give a cut and even this case was taken to the Caliph.  “How can a donkey be a human’s friend?” Asked Ali.  The Caliph said “which fool will think of a saddle be made of firewood”.  Ali realised his mistake and cut the donkey’s hair.

Moral: If you try to fool others by your intelligence, you will have to pay back.
