Answer:

f = 6 cm

g = 8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

from the figure AD || BC

in trapezium AB || CD

therefore we get an rectangle ABCD

area of trapezium ABCE = 60 sq cm

area of rectangle ABCD is = 48 sq cm

area of trapezium - area of rectangle gives the area of triangle ADE which is a right angle triangle ( angle C is 90°, AD is parallel to BC hence angle angle ADE is 90°)

60 - 48 = 12 sq cm

DE is 4 cm

1/2 × AD × DE = 12

1/2 × AD × 4 = 12

AD × 2 = 12

AD = 12/2 = 6 cm

as AD and BC lies between parallel lines they are equal

therefore AD = BC = 6 cm

area of rectangle ABCD is product of the sides l × b

6 × g = 48

g = 48/6

g = 8 cm

proof:

area of trapezium ABCE = 60

1/2 × h × (a + b) = 60

h is distance between parallel AB and CD = 6 cm

a is one of the parallel side = g = 8 cm

b is other parallel side = g + 4 = 8 + 4 = 12 cm

= 1/2 × 6 × (8 + 12)

= 1/2 × 6 × 20

= 3 × 20

= 60 sq cm

hence proved

hope you get your answer
