Given:-

Weight of potatoes=2\frac{7}{8}\text{pounds}=\frac{23}{8}\text{pounds}

Weight of green beans=1\frac{1}{8}\text{pounds}=\frac{9}{8}\text{pounds}

Weight of peppers=2\frac{1}{2}\text{pounds}=\frac{5}{2}\text{pounds}

To Find:-

Weight of vegetables to have exactly 10 pounds

Steps:-

Let weight of vegetables be x kg. So,

\frac{23}{8}+\frac{9}{8}+\frac{5}{2}+x=10\\\\\frac{23+9+20}{8}+x=10\\\\\frac{52}{8}+x=10\\\\x=10-\frac{52}{8}=\frac{80-52}{8}=\frac{28}{8}=3.5\text{pounds}
