1)8:5=100:X

=>8×x=100×5

=>8×x=500

=>X=500/8

=62.5

2)given quantity= 850 and decrease in the ratio = 17:6

the decrease quantity =6/17×850=300

Now, the quantity is decreased again in ratio 4:3

the resulting quantity=3/4×300=225

3)the given quantity is =600

and increased quantity=960

the ratio (a:b) by which 800 is increased to 900=800/960=5/6

the resulting ratio = 5:6

4)the ratio in ages of A and B =5:6

A age =18

B=? years

6:5=18:x

6/5=18/X

6×X=18×X

X=18×5/6 =15

B age is = 15 years
