The number is of the form 21a + 11. It's also in the form 13b + 3. Now let's find the smallest such number…

21a + 11 = 13b + 3.

The smallest a and B which ensures that we get an integer is a = 12, with this b = 20. Sub in and we get the smallest number to be 260.

21a - 13b = - 8

And the first plausible solution is a=12 and b=20

Now to get the next solution, we can take a = 12 and coefficient of b, ie 13 to it… this next solution is a = 12+13 = 25.

With a=25, we get b=41.

And the number is 536, which as required lies between 500 and 600. Now divide 536 by 19 and we get remainder = 4
