Simply take the LCM:

=> ((3+√7)^2 + (3-√7)^2)/(9-7)

Identity used: (a-b)(a+b) = a^2 - b^2

=> (9+7+6√7 + 9+7-6√7)/2

=> 32/2

=> 16

16 = a + b√7

=> b = 0 , a = 16
