- Vertical motion : Vertical distance travelled by the ship = vertical height of the ship ( h ).
y = ( u sin © ) t + 0.5 gt²
875 = ( u sin © ) 35 - 0.5 * 10 * 35²
875 = 35 ( u sin © - 175 )
u sin© = 25 + 175
u sin© = 200 ___________2
thus, from equation 1 and 2
( u sin © ) ² + ( u cos© )² = 200² + 150²
u² = 62500
u = 250 m/sec
also,
u sin © * 150 = 200 * u cos ©
tan © = 4/3
© = 53° ( approx )
