Given:-

  • ΔRPQ and ΔRST are congruent.

  • Base of a triangle is 4 cm and Height is 5 cm.

  • Radius of Circular head is 0.7 cm.

To FInd:-

  • The Total Area of the Figure.

Solution:-

Here, The ΔRPQ and ΔRST are congruent so there measurement will be equal.

So, Area of ΔRPQ ⇒ \dfrac{1}{2} × base × height

                              ⇒ \dfrac{1}{2} × 4 × 5 cm²

                              ⇒ 10 cm²

Now, Area of Circular head ⇒ πr²

                                              ⇒ \dfrac{22}{7} × 0.7 × 0.7

                                              ⇒ 1.54 cm²

So, Area of the given figure ⇒ 2 × ( Area of ΔRPQ ) + Area of circular head

                                              ⇒ 2 × 10 cm² + 1.54 cm²

                                              ⇒ 21.54 cm²

Hence, Area of the figure is 21.54 cm².

Some important terms:-

  • Circumference  of the circle = 2πr

  • Area of Equilateral triangle = \dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{4} × Side²

  • Height of Equilateral triangle = \dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2} × side

  • Heron's Formula = \sqrt{s ( s - a) (s - b) (s - c)}    where, S = \dfrac{a + b + c}{2}
