Question

This question was there in my mind since I learned about mirrors and lenses and nobody was able to answer it. Even many students have this doubt but they don't ask and I don't know why? Many of my science teachers are also not able to give appropriate answer to it..

So the question is this (class 10th physics) :- Why is it that in the mirror part, the "mirror" that converges the light is known "concave" mirrorand on the other hand the "lens" that converges the light known as "convex" lens?

Why they have such a difference in name? Even though there property of bending the light is same...

Why the names are not according to their property?

Similarly it is the case with divergent mirror and lens

Remember the question is regarding the difference in name between the "mirror" and "lens" even though there property are same and not only the two types of mirrors and lenses which everyone knows...

I am not 100% sure but I think it is not because of the property of bending but because of their shape and the curved area of the surface.

I think the reason is
as in concave mirror the curve is inwards which is the reflecting part so same as in the concave lens the curve is inwards from where the light gets refracted and same comparison applies to convex mirror and lens
so the names must to be according to converging or diverting but as for it's curved surfaces.
