Explanation:

The eyepiece has a moderate magnification of 5–10X. The objective lens does too but your eye can’t see through the small lens. The eyepiece is intended to send the image to the eyeball by design. A true magnifying glass is still the best way to look at things because it is so much wider than an eyepiece. Using an eyepiece as a magnifyer isn’t good because the light is blocked by the metal tube and you have to get close to the object to get 10X so it will be dark.
