The American elections of 1936 remain one of the most talked about events in American history. John A. Ryan was a leading Catholic priest, his venture into American politics brought with it,  controversies.  

His endorsed Franklin Roosevelt’s candidature for President.

On this, Radio Priest Father Charles E. Coughlin turned against Franklin D Roosevelt and the New Deal during the presidential election campaign in 1936.  

Father Charles. Coughlin supported Union Party’s, William Lemke.

The entire episode was broadcasted on the national radio on October 8th, 1936.
