Good morning to one and all present here. I, Maria of Grade 10 will be presenting my election manifesto for the position of culture head of our prestigious institute.

"A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people"

We are all well aware of the fact that India is the mother of all cultures. Each state has its own unique heritage. The culture of a place defines the way it's people live and their beliefs.

Indian culture promotes respect for our elders including parents, elderly people and teachers. Youngsters are supposed to touch the feet of their elders and teachers as a mark of respect.

However, as aeons pass by our cultural heritage begins to deteriorate. We no longer wish to wear any traditional clothes and greet our relatives by saying 'Namastey' or 'Asalamualaikum'. Instead, we keep saying 'Hello, Hi' and all other sorts of things. Westernisation is slowly and slowly 'killing' all our cultural habits. As a result, languages die and there is a degradation of moral values among youth.

This is the need of the hour. We need to work out some solutions so that our culture remain the way as it is.

I firmly believe that our school needs a cultural head who not only promotes our diverse culture but also works towards its improvement and inculcates these habits in the students.

I am an honest and dedicated person. I have infinite patience and wisdom. I'm punctual and meticulous.

I have also participated in dozens of cultural events and debates and have also bagged many laurels.

I am not in favour of westernisation even though many people view it as a sign of progress.

If I'll be chosen, I'll deliver my best and make sure that culture related activities including singing competitions or painting competitions depicting our way of life are conducted regularly . Charts and pictures related to our lifestyle will be pasted in the notice board.

Actions speak better than words so I would conclude my speech.

Thank you for your patient listening.

"Preservation of one's own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures."

To begin your speech for student council president, you need to begin with a strong, attention-grabbing opening. You'll likely be giving this speech during school hours, so your classmates' attention spans might be a bit strained.

Do not merely start by saying, "My name is ___ and I'm running for student council." Your classmates will already know as much and this is not really a unique statement. There will be time to state the basic information after you've got the class's attention.[1]

You can open with a question. Something like, "If there was one thing you could change about this school, what would it be?" Or a question that adds some humour, like, "I know what you're thinking. Why should I listen to this person?" and then proceed to lay out your credentials. Quotes on leadership, power, and guidance would also make good openings. However, make sure to double-check your sources and especially if you're finding quotes online. Many online quote databases, like Quote Garden or Brainy Quote, sometimes attribute quotes to the wrong sources.[2]

If you're stuck, look up and read famous speeches. You can find many speeches from presidents, world leaders, civil rights activists, and others online. Pay attention to how they opened their speeches and ask yourself, "Was this interesting? Do I want to keep reading/listening? Why
