Question
Verify :-
- (x -y)² = x² - 2xy + y² , For x = 4 , y = 1
Prove
First Take L.H.S.
(X - Y )²
keep value of x & y
= ( 4 - 1 )²
= (3)²
= 3 × 3
= 9
Now, Take R.H.S.
( X² - 2XY + Y²)
Keep value of x & y
= (4² - 2 × 4 × 1 + 1²)
= (16 - 8 + 1)
= 17 - 8
= 9
Here,
L.H.S. = R.H.S.
So, This identity Verified for x = 4 & y = 1

Step-by-step explanation:
Given:
- Equation = ( x – y )² = x² – 2xy + y²
- Values = x = 4 & y = 1
To Prove:
- LHS = RHS
Proof: Putting the values of x & y in LHS.
- Using (a – b)² = a² + b² –2ab
( x – y )²
( 4 – 1 )²
( 4 )² + ( 1 )² – 2 x 4 x 1
16 + 1 – 8
17 – 8
9
➟ Now, put the values of x & y in RHS.
x²– 2xy + y²
( 4 )² – 2 x 4 x 1 + ( 1 )²
16 – 8 + 1
17 – 8
9
Hence, LHS = RHS, Thus verified !
