Answer:

Cost of one table is Rs. 1000 and cost of one chair is Rs. 500

Step-by-step explanation:

Let cost of one table be x and cost of one chair be y

For Thomas

Cost of 2 tables + Cost of 8 Chairs = 6000

2x + 8y = 6000 ---(i)

For Mohan

Cost of 3 tables + Cost of 10 Chairs = 8000

3x + 10y = 8000 ---- (ii)

Multiplying (i) with 3 and (ii) with 2 we get

6x + 24y = 18000 ---(iii)

6x + 20y = 16000 --- (iv)

Subtracting (iv) from (iii)

(6x + 24y) - (6x + 20y) = 18000 - 16000

6x + 24y - 6x - 20y = 2000

4y = 2000

y = 500

Putting value of y in (i)

2x + 8(500) = 6000

2x + 4000 = 6000

2x = 6000 - 4000

2x = 2000

x = 1000

Hence, the cost of one table is Rs. 1000 and the cost of one chair is Rs. 500.
