Answer :-

Yes,  it's true to say that the chemical reactions in which heat is evolved are called exothermic reactions.

Explanation and extra information  :-

Chemical reactions are the reactions which lead to the change in Chemical properties of the product with direct correspondence to the chemical nature of the reactants involved.

In the context of classification of chemical reactions on the basis of release and absorption of heat,  chemical reactions can be classified into 2 types:-

•Exothermic reactions :-~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The chemical reactions in which heat is evolved,  are known as exothermic reactions.

Eg: Reaction  between  calcium       oxide  and  water  to form  calcium     hydroxide.

•Endothermic reactions :-~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  The chemical reactions in which heat is absorbed,  are known as endothermic reactions.

Eg: Decomposition  of  calcium carbonate  to  form calcium  oxide and  calcium   hydroxide.

AnswEr: True

Expressed in a chemical equation: reactants → products + energy. Exothermic Reaction means "exo" (derived from the Greek word: "έξω", literally translated to "out") meaning releases and "thermic" means heat. So the reaction in which there is release of heat with or without light is called exothermic reaction.
