according to this equation

x - p = 0; x = p

and hence on putting this value in the both equation

p(x) = (p)^3 + 4(p)^2 - 2p + 1

0 = p^3 + 4p^2 - 2p + 1 (¡)

and in the second equation

p(x) = (p)^3 + 3(p)^2 - p + 7

0 = p^3 + 3p^2 - p + 7 (¡¡)

so according to (¡) and (¡¡)

p^3 + 4p^2 - 2p + 1 = p^3 + 3p^2 - p + 7

p^3 - p^3 + 4p^2 - 3p^2 - 2p + p + 1 - 7 = 0

p^2 - p - 6 = 0

p^2 - 3p + 2p - 6 = 0

p(p - 3) + 2(p - 3)

(p + 2) ( p - 3)

so the values of p are

p + 2 = 0 ; p = -2

p - 3 = 0 ; p = 3

Sir100: P^2-p-6 is p^2-3p+2p-6 ?
Anonymous: because
Anonymous: we can write it as
Anonymous: in that form
Anonymous: on further solving we get the same value
