Though constitution of India was adopted on the 26th of November 1949, why is Republic day celebrated on 26th of January? Might sound silly but help me out please

On Republic Day, the constitution prepared by drafting committee headed by BR Ambedkar was implemented, replacing the Government of India Act 1935.
