Though Nepal's HDI figure is improving, it's still low. It was 0.463 (157th) in 2013, 0.543 (146th) in
2014, 0.548 (145th) in 2015, 0.558 (144th) in 2017 AD, 0.574 (149th) in 2018 and 0.579 (147th) in
2019 AD. What do you think should be done for the improvement in Nepal's figure?

Answer: Explained

Explanation:

  • The Human Development Index is decided by the United Nations under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) which is a measure of the quality of human life in a country.
  • Speaking of Nepal we can say that yes its Human development Index has shown improvement from 0.463 in 2013 to 0.579 in 2019. But then its ranking is still very behind when we compare it with its neighboring countries such as India, China etc.
  • India ranks 131  and Nepal is at 142 among the 189 countries which are ranked in Human development Index.
  • There must be improvements in the factors which are responsible for the calculation of Human Development Index(HDI); such as Long and Healthy Life, Education and A decent standard of living.
  • There must be an improvement in health sector in Nepal for better life expectency and development of education.
  • Hence, the required improvement must be as above.
