Advocate Sergie gave Lushkoff work at his house and called him to chop wood for him so he(Lushkoff) met Olga there. As we can see in the story Olga used to say,' Oh you sot, you! Oh, you miserable creature! There's nothing but ruin for you.' and sit opposite to him, look into his face and weep,' Oh, you unlucky man! There is no pleasure for you in this world and there will be none in the world to come. You drunkard! You will burn in hell. Oh, you unhappy one!' She used to chop the woods for him and let him take the money. She totally changed him.
