Answer:

No DC is not directly generated inside DC generator. All generators produce AC output; though with the help of commutator action (using split rings, which alternately change their positions to keep the voltage induced between the brushes they are connected to, always unidirectional). This unidirectional current is when filtered to reject ripple components, give the DC output, But practically no output of a DC generator is perfectly DC. The introduction of a no. of series coils in armature increases the brush frequency and hence, reduces the ripple content.
