The british planters agreed to offer one forth of the compensation and Gandhi agreed the offer because he thought that the amount of refund was less important than the fact that the landlords had been obliged to surrender a part of their money and with it a part of their prestige .......

Answer:
The Champaran episode began as an attempt to ease the sufferings of a large number of poor peasants. Gandhiji admits that what he had done was a very ordinary thing. He declared that the British couldn't order him about his own nation. He got spontaneous support of thousands of people. The efforts of Gandhiji and support of people made Champaran struggle a huge triumph.
