though water and oil are liquids ,the oil is thicker and the water is thinner.why?

There are many possible reasons like ,
- Water shows Hydrogen bonding but oil does not.
- Even the viscosity depends on nature of intermolecular attraction between the particles of matter.
- So oil has much less space between it's particles and much more force of attraction which makes it thicker
