Three articles are sold for 800 each. If one of these is sold at a loss of 20%, at what price should the other two be sold to gain 25% on the whole transaction!

Given,

SP of 3 articles= RS 800 each

One sold= 20 % loss

Therefore,

CP of 1 article= 100÷100--loss% × SP

= 100÷100--20×800

= RS 1000 for one article.

Therefore, CP of two = RS 1000×2

= RS 2000

Profit %= 25%

Therefore, SP=100+profit%÷100×CP

= 100+25÷100×2000

= 125÷100×2000

= RS 2500

Therefore, the other two should be sold for RS 2500 to gain a profit of 25% on the whole transaction.
