three balls of masses M1 M2 and M3 are lying in a straight line the first ball is moving with a certain velocity so that is strikes the second ball directly and itself come to rest the second ball collides with the third and it is itself come to rest if we be the coefficient of restitution for each ball in choose the correct relation

Answer:

Using the law of conservation of momentum.

m1v1 = m2v2  and

m2v2 = m3v3

Now the equation for coefficient of restitution: can be written as:

v2 = ev1  and

v3 = ev2

Thus the relation between each ball can be find out by using the conservation of momentum equation as.

m1v1 = m2v2

 m1/m2 = v2/v1

Now by putting the value of V2 the equation becomes.

m1/m2 = e

m2/m3 = v3/v2

m2/m3 = e

Thus we can say that

M1/M2 = M2/M3 = e
