Find :

1) Final temperature, if bodies are brought for thermal contact.

Solution :

• Let the final temperature be T and specific heat be s.

•According to law of conservation of energy,

Energy lost = Energy gained/acquired

• Therefore,

MsT1 + 2MsT2 + 3MsT3 = ( Ms + 2Ms + 3Ms )T

MsT1 + 2MsT2 + 3MsT3 = 6MsT

T1 + 2T1 + 3T3 = 6T

T = T1 + 2T2 + 3T3 / 6

= 40 + 100 + 180 / 6

= 140 + 180 / 6

= 320/6

T = 53.33°C
