Three bulbs of hundred watt each ,a fan of 1500 w and an electric iron of 1100 w are daily operated for 5 hrs,7 hrs and 2 hrs respectively. What will be the total electrical consumption expenses of these appliances for the month of April.(the electrical company charges 5 rupees per unit)
Answers
Formula Used
• E = P × t
Where,
E is the Energy Consumed
P is the Power
t is the time used for
1 unit = 1000wh
Solution:-
Firstly we calculate the Energy Consumed by 3 bulbs in 5 hours.
EB is the Energy Consumed by Bulb
Substitute the value we get
→ EB = 3 × 100 × 5
→ EB = 1500 wh
→ EB (in unit) = 1500/1000 = 1.5 unit
Total energy consumed by Bulb in Month of April
→ EB = 30 × 1.5 = 45 Unit -----------(i)

Now, Calculating the energy consumed by the Fan in 1 day which is used for 7 hours
EF is the energy consumed by the fan
Substitute the value we get
→ EF = 7× 1500
→ EF = 10500Wh
→ EF (in unit) = 10500/1000 = 10.5 unit
Energy Consumed by fan in 30 days
→ EF = 30×10.5 = 315 Unit ----------(ii)

Now, Calculating the Energy Consumed by iron in 1day which is used for 2 hour daily.
EI is the Energy Consumed by Iron.
Substitute the value we get
→ EI = 1100×2
→ EI = 2200
→ EI (in Unit) = 2200/1000 = 2.2 unit
Energy consumed by Iron in 30 days
→ EI = 2.2 ×30 = 66 unit -----------------------(iii)

And, Calculating the total energy consumed by given appliances .
• Total Energy = Energy Consumed by Bulb + Energy Consumed by Fan + Energy Consumed by Iron
Substitute the value we get
→ E = EB + EF + EI
→ E = 45 + 315 + 66
→ E = 426 unit
Total energy consumed by appliances is 426 units
And it is given that the rate of charges = Rs 5 Per Unit
→ Total Charges = 5×426
→ Total Charge = Rs 2130
Therefore, Total charges of the electric is Rs 2130 .
Hence, Required option is (c) Rs 2130 .
Three bulbs of hundred watt each ,a fan of 1500 w and an electric iron of 1100 w are daily operated for 5 hrs, 7 hrs and 2 hrs respectively. What will be the total electrical consumption expenses of these appliances for the month of April. (The electrical company charges 5 rupees per unit). Options are given below
⑴ Rupees 1500
⑵ Rupees 1080
⑶ Rupees 2130
⑷ Rupees 2080
- There are three bulbs of 100 watt.
- There is a fan is of 1500 watt.
- There is an electric iron of 1100 watt.
- Three bulbs are worked for 5 hrs daily.
- The fan is work for 7 hrs daily.
- The electric iron is used for 3 hrs daily.
- The electrical company charges 5 rupees per unit.
- The total electrical consumption expenses of these appliances for the month of April.
- The total electrical consumption expenses of these appliances for the month of April = Rupees 2130.
- E = P × t
- Total consumed energy atq = Energy consumed by bulb + Energy consumed by fan + Energy consumed by electric iron.
- E means consumed energy.
- P means power.
- t means time used for.
- 1 unit = 1000 watts.
- Let B as the energy consumed by that 3 bulbs in 5 hours.
- Let F as the energy consumed by that bulb in 7 hours.
- Let I as the energy consumed by that iron in 2 hours.
- This question says that there are three bulbs of 100 watt. There is a fan is of 1500 watt. There is an electric iron of 1100 watt. Three bulbs are worked for 5 hrs daily. The fan is work for 7 hrs daily. The electric iron is used for 3 hrs daily. The electrical company charges 5 rupees per unit. Afterwards, this is also given that the electrical company charges 5 rupees per unit). Options are given below for help !
- ⑴ Rupees 1500
- ⑵ Rupees 1080
- ⑶ Rupees 2130
- ⑷ Rupees 2080
- To solve this question, we have to use our assumptions 1 by 1 afterthat using these assumptions we have to find the consumed energy of 1 appliance afterthat to find the consumed energy of 2 appliance afterthat to find the consumed energy of 3 appliance. ( Putting the values ) Afterwards, finding the total energy consumed by the given appliances. Hence, we have done.

Firstly we have to find the energy consumed by that 3 bulbs in 5 hours.
Let B as the energy consumed by that 3 bulbs in 5 hours.
Putting the values we get the following results,
B = 3 × 100 × 5
B = 300 × 5
B = 1500 watts.
But 1 unit = 1000 watts, hence
B = 1500 / 1000
B = 15 / 10
B = 3 / 2
B = 1.5 watts.
Now, total energy consumed by bulb in Month of April.
B = 30 × 1.5
B = 45 units Eǫᴜᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ①

Now, we have to find the energy consumed by that fan in 7 hours.
Let F as the energy consumed by that bulb in 7 hours.
Now, putting the values we get the following results.
F = 1500 × 7
F = 10500 watts.
But, 1 unit = 1000 watts, hence
F = 10500 / 1000
F = 105 / 100
F = 21 / 20
F = 10.5 watts
Now, total energy consumed by fan in Month of April.
F = 30 × 10.5
F = 315 units Eǫᴜᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ②

Now, we have to find the energy consumed by that electric iron in 2 hours.
Let I as the energy consumed by that iron in 2 hours.
Now, putting the values we get the following results.
I = 1100 × 2
I = 2200 watts
But, 1 unit = 1000 watts, hence
I = 2200 / 1000
I = 22 / 10
I = 11 / 5
I = 2.2 watts
Now, total energy consumed by iron in Month of April.
I = 30 × 2.2
I = 66 units Eǫᴜᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ③

Now, finding the total energy consumed by the given appliances
Formula : Energy consumed by bulb + Energy consumed by fan + Energy consumed by electric iron.
Putting the values according to the formula we get the following results.
E = B + F + I
E = 45 + 315 + 66
E = 360 + 66
E = 426 units
Hence, E = 426 unit's.

But it is also given that the electrical company charges 5 rupees per unit hence, continuing....
Total charges = 426 × 5
Total charges = 2130 rupees.
So, 2130 rupees are total charges.
Means option ⑶ is correct option.
